If the five W’s are to be followed, it is simple.
Who: Prometheus the Poet (a.k.a. Sarah Mae from maedaylife.com)
What: A literary art project
Where: The internet (more specifically at Prometheus The Poet (this website), Facebook, and Instagram.
When: For as long as it takes (or until I get bored)
Why: Because we study to explore art, literature, and ourselves- but when we become adults we forget what fun it was to learn and stretch and work- and when we are reminded we must grab hold and build something, or accept the death of that part of us. I am thematically unable to accept the death of me.
If you give me a large blank space to fill, it is not (continue for the lengthy explanation).
Prometheus the Poet is an artistic creative writing project designed to explore poetry within the confines of another’s work. Through artistic means, I am attempting to create meaningful poetry from the pages of classic (and non-copyrighted) literature.
Prometheus, the eldest son of a Titan, lived on Earth amongst humans. After being denied fire for his neighbors, Prometheus climbed Mt. Olympus, stole a spark from Zeus’s lightning bolt and return to humanity, gift in hand. Taking from the old regime, Prometheus allowed the advancement of humanity with fire. While I cannot hope to advance the fields of art or poetry with my project, I hope to at least advance myself.
For this project I am largely employing the black-out-poetry technique. Thus I am using my favorite art supply in the history of history… the Sharpie! As the project progresses I also expect to include other artistic techniques (burning, cutting, painting, etc) so keep an eye out as I expand my artistic horizons (and visit the craft store often). For more info on my methods and techniques- check out the Methods and Supplies page.
I will largely be documenting this process with my HTC One Remix Android Smartphone, because I am too lazy to download photos from my Cannon Rebel EOS T3.
